The Vaccines have released their sixth studio album titled “Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations.” The album is a reflection on loss and gratitude, with the title being inspired by a misheard lyric from Don McClean’s “American Pie”. The album was produced by Andrew Wells and mixed by Dave Fridmann.

The Vaccines describe the album as immediately anthemic and a reminder to keep on dreaming. It explores themes of reconciling with loss and the idea that people and places we once loved will never be forgotten. The album was written while lead vocalist Justin Young was living in Los Angeles and going through his own period of disillusionment.

The first single from the album is called “Heartbreak Kid,” which details romantic loss and features surging guitars and an anthemic rhythm section. The chorus of the single finds Young switching between two usages of the title, creating a subtle flip in the lyrics.

The album marks a new era for The Vaccines, as it is the first record without original guitarist Freddie Cowan, who left the band before recording began. Despite the change, the band settled into their new roles quickly and felt a renewed sense of purpose.

The Vaccines will be embarking on a UK tour in support of the album, with dates in Birmingham, Manchester, London, and more
